Selain struktur tadi, narrative text juga punya ciri kebahasaan yang khas. Biasanya menggunakan past tense (verb 2), ada penggunaan adjective (kata sifat) buat ngegambarin tokoh atau suasana, terus ada juga adverb (kata keterangan) buat nambahin detail waktu atau tempat.
